Vanity and Hair Loss

Hair Loss

A vain person suffering from hair loss?...definitely a mismatch.

Vanity is said to be one of mankind’s innate sins. And our hair can be considered as one of the factors that largely contribute to our overall physical appearance, and therefore it is very much a part of everyone’s vanity issues. The hair-related fact is: involuntary baldness connotes aging. Not all people are comfortable with signs of aging. Hence, not all people are comfortable with hair loss, especially those who do not want to be perceived as someone older than his age. In any way you put it, mankind’s narcissism or vanity will generally NOT be in favor with hair loss. So it is but important to take care of our hair like we take care of our other vital organs.

Have Scientists Stumbled Upon the Answer to Hair Loss?

Hair Loss

SIMI VALLEY, Calif., May 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Research scientists at the University of San Francisco Wound Center may have stumbled onto the answer to something that has frustrated mankind for centuries. Their discovery was made while applying a synthetically formulated compound, Copper Peptide, to severe wound areas on several patients. During this process something unusual happened. Not only did the wounds heal about 30 percent faster, but a significant stimulation of the follicular cells occurred. As a side effect, these tripeptide complexes actually grew hair around the wound area.

Hair Loss Hits the Young

Hair Loss

male hairlossBeverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) May 10, 2006 -- Stereotypes of bald men usually focus on the middle-aged man (and beyond). What many people do not know is that hair loss can actually start as early as the late teens. Many young men in their twenties can show significant hair loss and clear signs of genetic male pattern baldness. At this age, hair loss can be devastating for one’s self esteem. Society is not as accepting of baldness in the young as in middle age. In fact, it is more accepting of total baldness (when one elects to have a shaved head) than an eroding hairline. With so much emphasis on the youth culture, it is no wonder that young men with thinning hair who feel that they appear older feel cheated and self-conscious.

What is the normal cycle of hair growth and loss?

At any one time, about 10 percent of the hair on your scalp is in a resting phase. After 2 to 3 months, the resting hair falls out and new hair starts to grow in its place. This growing phase lasts for 2 to 6 years. Each hair grows approximately 1 centimeter per month during this phase. About 90 percent of the hair on your scalp is growing at any one time.

It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of this cycle. However, some people may experience excessive (more than normal) hair loss. Hair loss of this type can affect men, women and children.
