Uses: Temazepam is commonly prescribed for insomnia and other sleep disorders.
How to use: Temazepam is a prescription medicine and should be used only as directed by your doctor. Check with your doctor the proper usage of Temazepam. Do not prolonged its use, unless, directed by the doctor. And get a full night sleep before taking Temazepam so that your body becomes active and does not suffer dizziness, and loss of control. It is recommended that an extra care be given especially those people under motion like travelling.
Side effects: There are side effects that occur while using Temazepam and some are classified into minor effects such as impaired motor functions, dizziness,euphoria,sluggishness, amnesia, confusion, and loss of appetite.
Precautions: Temazepam, like any other drugs are not also 100% safe for use by pregnant women, women who are planning to become pregnant ,and those women who are pregnant while under this drug treatment. It is recommended to consult your doctor and inform them of your current situation.
Drug Interaction: Temazepam interacts increasingly with nicotines and alcohol, other hypnotics/sedatives (e.g. barb narcotics, and other muscle relaxants. The euphoriant effects of opioids may be increased, leading to increased risk of psychological dependence. Drugs like Cimetidine, Omeprazole,Ketoconazole,Itraconazole, Disulfiram, Fluvoxamine takes longer for Temazepam to take effect in the body. Rifampin, phenytoin, carbamazepine and phenobarbital increase the metabolism of temazepam, thereby, decreasing the effects of the drug. And foods that are too acidify the urine can slows down the effect of the drug .
Overdose: When overdose, you can experience hypotension, mental confusion, somnolence, impaired motor functions, dizziness, and coma. This is a serious case and may require immediate medical attention.
Notes: Studies have shown that people whose ages are 6 months old to 18 years old, the safety and effectiveness of this drug has not been established yet. And also those people who are very old may experience cardiac arrest and depressing disorders. So, it is recommended that only little amounts of dosage will be taken by these people.
Missed dose: Make sure you do not miss a dose, but, in cases like you miss a dose, skip it and continue the regular dosing schedule.
Storage: Store this drug away from reach of children. Keep it tightly closed and store it at room temperature away from heat, and moisture. Check expiration dates/ labels. Dispose it properly when no longer in use.
