Ayurveda Can Help to Stop Hair Loss

Most people suffering from hair loss seek quick solutions from Western medicine or even turn to more of a remedy derived from local traditions. However, many experts argue that the ayurvedic system of medicine has much more than people might think when it comes to stoping or slowing down hair loss.

Ayurveda is the traditional staple of medicine practiced in India and Sri Lanka. It's a complete approach to overall health care that is designed to promote a better way of life rather than the occasional treatment. As a more holistic system of medicine, ayurveda focuses more on the uniqueness of the problem and it takes into account our mental attitude, lifestyle and even spirit. These attributes should not be treated in isolation from each other.

According to Ayurveda medicine and hair loss, the following principles are beneficial to more healthy and plentiful hair:

The scalp must be kept cool, so protection from sun and washing in cold or lukewarm water are paramount.

Sound nutrition is key, so a hair-friendly diet should emphasize proteins, iron, zinc, sulfur, Vitamin C, Vitamin B-Complex and essential fatty acids.

Use should be made of hair analysis to ascertain toxicity levels and nutritional deficiencies.

Oils, for example sesame and coconut, should be applied to the scalp to nourish, lubricate and strengthen the roots. This will also improve circulation to the head.

As with many of today's holistic approaches, it should be noted that modern day drugs, like Propecia or Proscar, can help one keep the hair they have or even grow back the hair that they lost.

If you take several approaches to slowing down your hair loss, like Ayurveda and Propecia methods for instance, your chances of keeping your hair and a health scalp are likely to be positive experience.

So, what do you think? Can Ayurveda prove itself to stop hairloss in men and women?
